Luther Plaza

Luther Plaza is a four-storey building at the junction of University Way and Nyerere Road, in Nairobi City. It houses offices and an underground parking. Beneath the building lied very weak soil formation that resulted from silt deposition over the years. A buoyant foundation was adopted, this is where the weight of excavated soils was determined to be equal to the weight of the building, resulting in a balancing act between the structure and the earth beneath. We not only found a solution but also transformed a challenge into an opportunity for cost-saving innovation.
